AePDS (Aadhar enabled Public Distribution System) and Food, Civil Services, and Consumer Protection Department, Maharashtra are the two authorities that monitor the enforcement of the Public Distribution System (PDS) and other related activities across the state. The government issues three different types of ration cards depending upon the income levels and socio-economic background of the households.

Types of Maharashtra Ration Cards
Tri-colour Smart Ration Cards have been introduced in the state of Maharashtra to enhance the implementation. Now, there are three different types of colour-coded ration cards, i.e. White, Yellow, and Saffron.
- Yellow Ration Card – Yellow Ration Cards are granted to those citizens of Maharashtra who belong to the BPL category, i.e. Below Poverty Line. This ration card helps the cardholders to purchase the rationed commodities at the subsidized rates decided by the government.
- Saffron Ration Card – The Saffron Ration cardholders have their annual family income ranging from Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 1 lakh. They can also avail themselves the various goods at marginal prices.
- White Ration Card – White Ration cards represent that you belong to the APL category, i.e. Above Poverty Line.

Eligibility Criteria

A. Yellow Ration Cards
- The annual family income of the applicant must not exceed Rs. 15,000.
- No tax must be borne by any of the family members.
- There should not be a residential telephone in the house.
- The family must own any four-wheeled motor vehicle.
- Total land owned by the family should not be more than two hectares of Jirayat. Also, the irrigated land must not be more than a half hectare.
B-1. Saffron Ration Cards
- The net family annual income must be above Rs. 15,000 and less than Rs. 1 Lakh.
- Such households must not own any four wheeler motor vehicle, excluding taxi.
- Irrigated land owned must not be more than 4 hectares of area.
B-2. PHH (Priority House Hold) Cards
- According to the GR issued in 2013, the applicants for the B-1 category cards have annual income less than Rs. 59,000 in urban households and Rs. 44,000 in rural households can avail the benefits of the PHH cards. A stamp will be imprinted on the first page of Saffron Ration Card to distinguish.
C. White Ration Cards
- Households whose annual family income is above 1 lakh will get the White Ration cards.
- Also, they may own a four wheeler vehicle and over 4 hectare irrigated land area.

Step I:- First of all, the beneficiaries need to visit the official website of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Department (अन्न, नागरी पुरवठा व ग्राहक संरक्षण विभाग). The homepage will open.
Step II:- On the right side of the homepage, you will find a section called, “Online Services (ऑनलाईन सेवा)”. Under this section, click on the option of “Online Fair Price Shops (ऑनलाईन रास्तभाव दुकाने)”.
Step III:- A new page will open. Select the option of “AePDS- All Districts (AePDS – सर्व जिल्हे)”.
Step IV:- Clicking on the link will direct you to the AePDS official portal. Further, select “RC Details” from the list of options available as shown in the picture below.
Step V:- Now, select the month and year, you wish to check the data for from the drop-down lists. Enter your SRC number in the space provided.

Application procedure for Maharashtra Ration Card online
With an aim to digitalize the state, the Government of Maharashtra has enabled the process to apply for the ration card electronically. People of the state can download the application form from the official portal. We have described the online application for the same. Check below.
Step I:- At first, you must visit the official website of the Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Protection Department. The homepage will be displayed.
Step II:- Search for the option of “Download” from the list that appears on the left side of the homepage. Click on it.
Step III:- A new page will open. It will contain all the application forms for Ration Cards, FPS, Renewal of FPS, etc.
Step IV:- To apply for a new ration card, choose “Form 1: Application for new Ration Card” under Application for Ration card.
Step V:- The application form will be displayed on the screen in PDF format. You can download the form, take a print out of it and submit it as per the rules and regulations to the concerned authorities.

How to link Aadhar Card to Maha Ration Card?
The government has now mandated the linking of the Aadhar card to the Ration card. The users can link both via online as well as offline mode. Here, in this section, we have described both the procedures for your reference.
Online Procedure
- Step I:- Firstly, you need to visit the official web portal of the state PDS – AePDS. On the menu bar, look for the tab “UIDAI”. Click on it.
- Step II:- Provide your Ration card and Aadhar Card details. Also, feed your mobile number, registered for Aadhar Card and Ration Card.
- Step III:- Click on “Continue” to move further in the process.
- Step IV:- You will receive an OTP on your mobile number. Now, you need to enter that exact OTP and your Ration card will be linked to your Aadhar Card.
Offline Procedure
For the offline procedure to get your Aadhar number linked to your ration card, you need to visit your nearest PDS or authorized ration shop. Also, carry a copy of your ration card and aadhar card along with some other ID proof. The authorized officer will verify your documents and proceed with biometric authentication. After successful authentication, an OTP will be forwarded to your registered mobile number. Verify that OTP and your ration card is linked with your aadhar card.
How to file a complaint at mahafood.gov.in?
If you have any issues or complaints about the portal or the services provided by them, you can write to them using the Online Grievance Redressal feature. It is a very simple procedure, check below.
Step I:- Firstly, visit the official website of Maharashtra Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Protection Department. On the homepage, select “Online Grievance Redressal System (ऑनलाईन तक्रार निवारण प्रणाली)” under the Online Services section.
Step II:- After clicking, you will be redirected to another page of the PDS Grievance Redressal Center. Click on the first option of “तक्रार नोंदवा“, i.e. Report.
Step III:- The following form will appear on the screen. Fill in all the required details and write your issue/ complaint in the provided space.
Step IV:- At last, click on the “Submit” button.
Step V:- The authorities will look into the matter and try to resolve your issue as soon as possible.

(i) To check the status of the registered complaint, go to the official portal of the Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Protection Department, Maharashtra.
(ii) Under the Online Services section, click on the “Online Grievance Redressal System”.
(iii) It will direct you to the following screen. Click on “आपल्या तक्रारींची सद्यस्थिती पहा (Check Complaint Status)”.
(iv) Enter your complaint number and registered mobile number to proceed.
(v) Finally, click on the “सादर करा (Submit)” button.
