West Bengal Snehaloy Housing Scheme
West Bengal Snehaloy Housing Scheme is a scheme of the state of West Bengal which offers houses to people/ families who filed grievances under the Didi Ke Bolo Portal. The suggestion of providing houses to the people was raised from the portal only. The Chief Minister of the State announced the scheme in the party rally held on March 3, 2020.
The scheme will cover all the poor citizens of the state who do not have shelter/ houses to live in or who own a kutcha dwelling. Through the scheme, the government aims to extend benefits to about 25,000 people in the state who are not covered under any other housing scheme of the state like Bangla Awas Yojana.

Promised Benefits under the WB Snehaloy Housing Scheme
Some of the benefits offered by the schemes are given below.
| Loans | The scheme offers Loans of a maximum of INR 1.20 Lakh to more than 25,000 citizens of the state. |
| Monetary Benefits | The scheme will also offer a one-time monetary aid to the residents for building up a pucca house of a minimum of 25 sq. m. plinth area. (The size of the dwelling will be based on the availability of land). |
| Additional Benefits | Low-Cost Toilets will also be built for the beneficiaries of the scheme. |
The monetary benefit amount will be available to the citizens in the form of two instalments.
Eligibility Criteria for Applying
As the application is not yet made open by the higher Authorities, there are no fixed guidelines for the scheme. Although there will be some basic criteria to select people who will become the beneficiaries under the scheme. Some of these are:
- The applicant willing to become the beneficiary of the scheme must be a permanent resident of the state.
- The applicant applying for the scheme must not be a beneficiary under any other housing scheme.
- He/ She must belong to the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category.
- The person or the family must have registered their grievance on the Didi Ke Bolo Portal.
WB Snehaloy Housing Scheme Online Registration
Registration for the scheme will be made available on the official website portal of the Government of West Bengal. The registration mode will be online. The residents will have to apply as soon as the registration is created by the higher authorities.
FAQs
The benefit amount enclosed with the scheme will be transferred to the accounts of the beneficiaries a\via the DBT (Direct Bank Transfer).
The District Magistrate will be the authority responsible for the benefits dispersal and addition of beneficiaries to the scheme.
The amount will be based on the dwelling but an amount of about one lakh is promised for it.
