PM Yuva Yojana For Writers – Yuva Mentoring Scheme
On the guidelines of the New Education Policy (NEP 2020), to empower the youth of the country by creating a learning ecosystem, the Government of India has launched a scheme for young writers. The central government has launched the scheme in honour of the country’s 75 years of Independence. Thereby, creating future leaders of tomorrow.
The scheme for Young Upcoming Versatile Authors abbreviates into YUVA. It is a PM Scheme for Mentoring Young Authors in the country. Going along with the Prime Minister’s vision to establish India as a Vishwa Guru, the YUVA scheme, is a great platform for young writers to be International leaders of tomorrow.
All these youth will be provided with an international platform to represent India and express themselves with their exquisite work on Indian literature and culture. The writers under the scheme will be provided with a mentorship program in writing varied genres including fiction, poetry, drama, non-fiction, travelogue, etc. These candidates will be offered a scholarship throughout the mentoring program. The selected winners will be provided with scholarship money of Rs. 50,000/- every month for six months.
The government will execute this writing programme in various phases. National Book Trust of India (NBT), functioning under the Ministry of Education will be the organisation implementing the scheme in the country. Applications from young upcoming authors from all over the country are invited. Candidates will be selected through an All India Contest out of which about 75 participants will be selected. The selected participants will be offered a mentoring program where they can become affluent writers.

Process of Selection in the YUVA Scheme
As applicants can participate from anywhere around the country, all these participants will be allowed to write on a wide range of subjects promoting Indian, heritage, knowledge and culture. All the participants will be selected through a process set up by the authorities.
Firstly, out of all the received applications, the jury panel/ committee of NBT will select about 75 of the participants via the All India Contest.
Under the contest, all the participants will be required to submit a manuscript of over 5,000 words. Only this manuscript will be the basis of judgement to select winners. The judges will judge the suitability of the submitted manuscript to be developed into a book under proper mentorship.
Out of all the entries, the selected winners to be offered the mentorship program will be announced.
All the selected writers will then carry forward the manuscript and work on it under the nominated mentors for the program. Winner entry books will be published.
PM Yuva Yojana Implementation
The complete PM Yuva Yojana will be implemented by the NBT in two Phases. The phases will be divided into 3 months each. Phase I will be a training phase where the candidates will be able to participate in a writer’s program, post which training will also be provided to the writers.
In Phase II, which is a Promotion Phase, young authors will be given interaction opportunities and scholarship amount at the end of 6 months. Books written as a part of the mentorship programme will also be published by the NBT.

As already stated participants can be a part of the contest from all around the country, it is essentially important to know that the applications for the same will be done online. Aspiring writers who want to participate can follow the steps detailed below.
Step 1: Go to the official website portal of My Gov Innovation Portal. On the home page of the portal, applicants will see an option of Mentoring Yuva. Click on the option.

Applicants can directly visit www.mygov.in and click on the Mentoring Yuva Scheme appearing on the page.
Step 2: On the next directed page, applicants will be able to view all about the scheme in detail. On the page, applicants will have to click on the button available for CLICK HERE TO SUBMIT. A depiction of the same is given below.
Step 3: Clicking on the option, applicants will be directed to the login page. Click on the option of Register Now.
Step 4: On the next directed page, applicants can register directly through a google account, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn account and others. Otherwise, applicants can register with an Email ID and Password, Mobile no. and date of birth, choose gender and click on the button of Create New Account.
Step 5: An OTP and confirmation code will be sent to the registered mobile number of the applicants. Candidates can enter the code, log in and proceed further with the application process.
