YSR Jagananna Gorumudda Scheme
Jagananna Gorumudda Pathakam is a mid-day meal scheme launched in the year 2003 across the state of Andhra Pradesh. Initially, the scheme was applicable for only primary level students, i.e. from Class I to Class V. However, its benefits were extended to the upper primary students (Class VI-VIII) and High School students (Class IX-X) in October 2008. Later, in the year 2010, it also included the Special Schools students in NCLP.
The scheme is applicable for the mentioned category of students studying in government/ govt-aided/ Madrasahs/ Maqtabs (under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan)/ Local Body STC. Under this AP Mid-Day Meal Scheme, free lunch will be provided to the students in the government based institutions. The scheme will ensure the proper nutritional value intake, food security, and access to education for these learners. The food will be served on all the working days.

Implementation of YSR Jagananna Gorumudda Scheme
- Directorate of School Education, Andhra Pradesh, monitors the MDM Scheme in the state.
- The whole cost is combinedly borne by the central and state governments at the ratio of 60:40.
- However, for the high school students, it is a 100% share of the state government.
- Recently, the AP govt has increased the salaries of the cooking staff and the one responsible for the distribution of the meals.
- The essential foodgrains are provided by the central govt to the state.
