Kerala Scholarship 2023

The Kerala government has introduced a new portal to notify worthy students about scholarships offering financial assistance. The students who are eligible for the scholarship programs can easily register for them directly on the portal. The entire process of implementation of this scheme will be in an online mode benefitting the registered candidates. Objective

The state governments in India have always awarded financial assistance to meritorious students and students who face financial issues in course of education. Kerala government has initiated to make it easier for their students to apply for scholarship programs by launching a web portal specifically for the scholarships. The prime aim of launching the web-enabled scholarship system is to provide information regarding the scholarships offered by the Department of Collegiate Education of the government of Kerala in one place. Students can apply for scholarships directly on the portal and read all the related information. This will make the functioning of the implementation of scholarship schemes hassle-free and better.

The following are the benefits and key features of Kerala Scholarship 2023:

  1. Kerala scholarship 2023 will be awarded to all the students who perform well in higher level examinations, thus promoting education.
  2. There are special scholarships for reserved categories to promote better education to students belonging to them to ensure protection of basic right to education.
  3. Students who deserve better educational opportunities but belong to economically weaker section will get scholarships such that they can pursue higher studies without being supressed by the burden of finances.
  4. There are about 15 scholarships that are offered under the Kerala scholarship scheme on the official portal.
  5. The application procedure started in the month of August and will continue till October.
  6. The application procedure will be carried out in an online mode and applicants will not have to visit the offices for any formalities. This will not only be easy and time conserving but also bring out transparency in the system.

General Eligibilty Criteria

The students who wish to apply on the portal for any of the scholarships will have to compulsorily satisfy the following criteria and then be eligible for the respective scheme:

  • Students must be a citizen of Kerala.
  • The income of the applicant’s family should not be more than Rs. 2 to 2.5 lakh per annum.
  • The scholarship recepient shall not be already availing benefits under any other government educational scholarship or financial assistance.
  • Students who availing of benefits from free coaching government schemes to clear the examination will not get any benefits of this scheme.
  • Studen should have scored at least 50% marks in the previous examination.
  • Students taking distant education will also be eligible for applying.
  • Students who are employed but are not receivig any salary amount or are on leave without payment during the educational course are eligible.
  • The scholarships will not provide assstance for qualifying for courses like Private Pilot License, Aircraft Maintenance Engineer and similar.
  • Other student in the family of the applicant should not have availed of scholarship under this scheme.
  • Implentation of scheme will be in accordance to the guidelines laid by the Central Goverment.

Central Sector Scholarship CSS

This scholarship is awarded to the students who belong to the economically weaker sections of society. Applicable students will have to register themselves for it before the given deadline. For Central Sector Scholarship official instructions click here.

Post Matric Scholarship For Minorities -NSP PMS

Students belonging to the minority communities which are Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Buddhists, Zoroastrians and, Parsis, will get admission and tuition fee allowance along with maintenance money. The applicant should satisfy the given criteria to qualify for this scholarship:

  • Student in first year of 12th or undergraduate or postgraduate or PhD Course in a government recognised institution.
  • Be a student of Class 11vor in first year of a technical or vocational course of ITI or ITC Centres that are affiliated to NCVT.
  • First student of a course that is not listed under merit-cum-means scholarship scheme.

State Merit Scholarship -DCE SMS

This scholarship is for students who are already studying in Government aided colleges but the family income is less than Rs 1 lakh per annum. Students in graduate courses will get an assistance of Rs 1,250 per annum while the ones studying in post-graduate courses will get Rs 1,500 per annum. District Merit Scholarship -DCE DMS

A candidate who scored an A+ grade in all subjects in the SSLC Examination that is conducted by Board of Public Examinations, Kerala State, and are studying in Higher Secondary or VHSC or ITI or Poly Technic course are eligible for financial assistance under this scheme. Merit Scholarship to the Children of School Teachers -DCE MSCT

Rs 50 pm is promised under this scholarship to students whose either parent is a primary or secondary school teacher. The applicant must be a first-year student of HSC or VHSC or undergraduate or postgraduate course in a college which is aided by the government. Hindi Scholarship -DCE HS

Undergraduate students and postgraduate students who have opted for Hindi as a sub-subject in degree level and as the main subject in BEd or MEd or MA or MPhil or PhD will get a financial stipend of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 per month respectively under this scholarship. Muslim Nadar Girls Scholarship-DCE MNS

A first-year girl student who is studying in HSC or VHSC or an undergraduate course from a government-aided college and belongs to the forward of BPL family and backward community will get a bn assistance of Rs 125 per annum according to this scholarship. Sanskrit Scholarship -DCE SSE

This scholarship is awarded on a preference basis to students who have opted for Sanskrit as the main subject and then to those who have Sanskrit as their secondary subjects in undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Suvarna Jubilee Merit Scholarship-DCE SJMS

An annual amount of Rs 10,000 will be awarded to a student who belongs to the BPL category and is a first-year student of Under Graduate or Post Graduate course in a government-aided college or university. For official instruction notification, click here.

MGS Renewal

Girl candidates who are in their first year of higher education in a government-recognized institution and are either Muslim or Latin or Converted Christian are eligible for this scholarship. Candidates who got admission into self-financing colleges based on merit are also eligible to apply. The following allowance is awarded to students under this scholarship:

  • Under Graduates: Rs. 5,000 per annum
  • Post Graduates: Rs. 6,000 per annum
  • Professional Courses: Rs. 7,000 per annum
  • Hostel Stipend: Rs. 13,000 per annum and those who are eligible for hostel stipend cannot benefit from this scholarship.

Fee charges for blind students and hostel charges or boarding charges of dau scholars for all PH students whose family annual income is below Rs. 4.5 lakhs are covered under this scholarship. Blind or deaf or physically handicapped students studying in government-aided higher secondary or vocational higher secondary schools or arts and science colleges and music colleges can apply for this scholarship.   1. Visit the homepage of Kerala Scholarships, Department of Collegiate Education, Government of Kerala at dcescholarship.kerala.gov.in.
  2. On the homepage, spot the “Home” box.
  3. Select “Candidate Login”.
  4. On the login web page, click on the “New Registration” option.
  5. A registration form will appear on the page.
  6. Fil the details of the Matriculation result.
  7. Enter all the required fields in the “Personal Details” block.
  8. Create a registration ID for the account.
  9. Enter the permanent and communication address details of the applicant. The applicant must be a citizen of Kerala.
  10. Fill the details of the present course the candidate is studying.
  11. Enter the details of the educational course the candidate is seeking scholarship for.
  12. Carefully enter the details of the bank account of the applicant. The scholarship amount will be disbursed in the same account.
  13. Create a password for your profile.
  14. Read the declaration and decode the captcha.
  15. Enter “Submit” and you will be successfully registered.
