It is an initiative to help the backward class students of Odisha state. This scholarship gives financial aid to these students. Also, ensuring that the students get sufficient financial aid. It is going to be executed by SC-ST development and Minority & OBC Welfare Department under the Government of Odisha Schemes. All the reserved class students are eligible to apply for the scheme. The sole objective of the Prerana Scholarship Scheme is to give help and support to the students of SEBC, OBC, ST, SC communities. The assistance is to be provided in the form of monetary aids which will be credited directly to the account of beneficiary students. So, they can complete their higher studies after finishing the Matriculation studies.

Also, this scholarship will be available for all such students no matter the course area. The benefit amount will be given for all professional and non-professional courses.

Benefits of Prerana Scholarship

Under the Prerana Scholarship, the students are provided with different benefits. These benefits are offered both to the day scholars as well as for the students residing in the hostels. Under this scholarship, the students are given this amount every month. Therefore, all the eligible candidates can avail the complete benefits of the scheme. The scholarship covers:

• Step 1- Go to the official portal of the Prerana Scholarships. The Prerana portal is depicted below.

• Step 2- Complete the registration process through the portal by using an E-Mail ID and Password.
• Step 3- After completing registration, students need to log in through the option of ‘Student’s Corner’ available at the bottom of the portal page. Click on the option of ‘Registered Student Login‘ available under it.

• Step 4- Fill in your ID and Password. Enter the code given and click on the ‘Login’ button

• Step 5- Save all the essential details while registering and further fill the form
• Step 6- Fill in all the information asked in the form like Personal details, banking details, and other Educational details.

Application for Outside State Students

As this is a state-level scholarship, there must be many students who want to avail of this scholarship but they do not reside in Odisha. For such students, the scholarship has another provision. So, if any student residing outside the state wants to apply for the scholarship, he/ she can apply and enjoy the benefits of this.

• Go to the official website of the Prerana Scholarship
• On the page, there will be an option of ‘Outside State Students’
• A dropdown list will appear. Click on the option ‘Out of State Institute’. Depicted below.

• It will automatically download a form. It is an application form.
• Fill the form, enter details and submit it to your Institute.
• After the institute completes its process, the application will further be posted to the DWO before the prerana scholarship last date.

The process of any candidate to be selected as a beneficiary of the scheme is linear. The selection is based on merit generated. Firstly, the concerned department will select students based on merit. After that, the process depicted below will be followed.

ST/ SC Scholarship Renewal Process/ Form Correction

For every academic year, the application is renewed. Any changes to your application can be done at this stage.

• Visit the official portal and Log in using a valid ID and password
• Re-upload any document, if required.
• Go to the ‘Prerana renew application portal’. Click on the option of ‘Renew Application’
• Fill in the fresh details. Click on the button of ‘Renew Application Details’
• The candidate should ‘lock’ the application to complete the renewal process
• Get a hard copy of your renewed application and submit it to your college/ Institute

Check the PMS Application Status

As you forward your application to the District Welfare Officer (DWO). He will provide you with an ID and Password. The ID of the applicant and password for it will be sent by SMS. The DWO will send it. Through these details, students will be able to check the status of their applications. After getting the details, students can follow the steps given below and check.

• Go to the official website of the scholarship portal
• On the homepage, click on the option of ‘ Application Status’
• It will redirect you to another page where you have to fill in the Application ID
• Click on the Search button
• Your status will be visible on the screen
